Welcome to the RETRO Database (WP2)
The RETRO database is mainly an archive for observations of atmospheric
chemical composition from the late fifties and up to now. The collection
of observations is in done in parallel to the meteorological archive
ERA-40, produced by the ECMWF. Focus is put on tropospheric polutants
such as ozone, NO2, SO2, etc. The measurements will be used for the
study of trends in atmospheric composition changes, but will also be
used for validation of the models participating in the project. For this
purpose, the database features some specific tools that allows modellers
to extract central metadata of the observation, allowing them to sample
the modells at the right time. Towards the end of the Retro project,
modell output will be archived in this data base.
A user-account is required to access the RETRO data. Please follow the link to log
in to get information on how to access to database.
The previous version of the NILU Retro site containing ozonesondes from
the Easoe, Sesame and Theseo campaigns, is available here.
More relevant measurements can be found in the TRADEOFF database.
